About the Project
UCSD has recently announced a mandatory climate class for all incoming undergraduate students as well as allows voluntary enrollment. It was my intention to underscore the importance of taking this requirement seriously. UCSD is implementing more than 40 classes that will focus on climate. With an incoming undergraduate class of roughly 7,000 students, voluntary enrollment, and the continued ongoing enrollment it will have a multiplying effect on existing and future generations. As UCSD has a global community, the anticipated impact will extend beyond the student population and inspire others (friends, parents, grandparents).
The goal of this pamphlet was to draw the connection between climate and health to a community who may see this requirement as a check in the box. I created pamphlets and handed them out to students at UCSD, posted them on my local community board at my library and posted on my social media. I wanted to inform and educate students around the importance of this required core class and how it should be carried forward to create change.
